Gail R. Meneley, Retired

Dear Friends,

For the last 24 years I have had the honor of spending time with many of you. As I now step away from my day-to-day involvement in Shields Meneley Partners, I am pleased to have the opportunity to share my thoughts with you.

We never know the direction our lives will take. In 1997, after a 25-year career in financial services – the last five as the CEO who “wasn’t invited to stay” as one client so gracefully described it – I discovered the work I was always destined to do – to wake up each morning knowing that the day would bring a new, interesting, successful person into my life who would make me a better person by knowing them.

I spent days with many of you when you were filled with sorrow, regret and self-doubt, followed by healing and triumph as you entered into successful and challenging new chapters of your personal and professional lives. You regained your confidence in “who you are” and a new sense of purpose and fulfillment.

What you may not understand is how profound each experience was for me. Many allowed me to be with them in times of deep vulnerability and trusted me to help them find their way. And during those journeys, you helped me become a better, wiser and more complete person.

I will remember each of you and think back to all days spent with my wonderful colleagues – Hugh, Bob, Bernadette, Katy, Hannah, Sarah, Tom, Breanne and Elizabeth. We were involved in what some would describe as life-changing work – on both sides.

I wish you continued success and trust that you will send others to Shields Meneley Partners in times of crisis and transition. A formal announcement detailing my new relationship with the firm is forthcoming, but in the meantime, I wanted to let you know I continue as a part-time consultant and you can reach out to me in the same ways you have in the past.

With great respect and kindness, I wish you good health, love, success and growth.

Warmest personal regards,
